Leadership Consultants Live with Purpose

Group.gif Each semester, Leadership Consultants travel throughout North America, immersing themselves in different cultures, seeing new places and meeting new people. With only a suitcase and a carry-on, consultants come prepared for all types of weather because by the end of the week, they'll likely have traveled to multiple states and crossed at least one time zone.

For those who meet them, it's plain to see that consultants are passionate about their work. But what do Leadership Consultants actually do? Simply put, Leadership Consultants Live with Purpose, and they inspire the women they meet to do the same.

Because the program focuses on relationship building, Leadership Consultants strive to create and cherish friendships with every member they meet. "My favorite part of being a Leadership Consultant is meeting the women of Alpha Gamma Delta and seeing firsthand the positive impact of sisterhood, leadership and empowerment," one of this year's consultants said.

As they get to know the women, consultants provide advice and support that is relevant to each chapter's campus experience. Consultants teach collegiate officers how to access the latest resources, so they can gain a better understanding of Fraternity initiatives. They also show collegians new ways to improve chapter operations and processes. One consultant said that "having those 'aha' moments with officers when we discover an easier and better way to do things is the best feeling and one of my favorite parts of the job! I enjoy giving back in ways that I did not expect."

Consultants also facilitate chapter workshops, empowering women to create a chapter brand that aligns with their personal values. They help women engage in values-based conversations, showing them that with truth, sincerity and kindness, they can confidently share their Alpha Gam experience with others—this especially comes in handy during recruitment!

As brand ambassadors, Leadership Consultants demonstrate Fraternity values in manner, word and thought. One consultant said being a brand ambassador is about "using your values and the things that are important to you as a guide. It isn't necessarily striving for perfection, but it's trying to be your true genuine self to make a positive impact on the world."

The program encourages consultants to contribute to the world's work through the talent of leadership multiplied. One LC from this year would tell women who are considering applying for the program that "this job will teach you more about yourself than you ever thought possible. On top of learning so much about the organization, a year in this role will strengthen you as a leader, a woman and as a young professional. I am so grateful that this experience has opened up my perspective and made me better suited for my future career." The Leadership Consultant program prepares women to be leaders in their jobs, organizations and communities.

If you're a recent or soon-to-be graduate who wants to pack her bags and impact women's lives, apply to be a Leadership Consultant! Applications for the 2015-2016 Leadership Consultant Team are due by December 31, 2014, and are available here.
