Initiation day is memorable for us all. It is the day when we finally learn the significance of Alpha Gamma Delta's symbols and meanings. It is the day when we promise, for a lifetime, to possess the high ideals of our organization and to strive for those every day. For members of our newest colony at the University of South Carolina, it was all of this and more. It was the day that they signed their names as the founding members of a brand new chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta.
On November 18, 2012, Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta was officially installed at the University of South Carolina. Every new chapter of our Fraternity represents a milestone, a growing number of women that now have the chance to Live with Purpose. These new sisters are also part of an additional milestone, being a part of the largest colony in the history of Alpha Gamma Delta. Starting in August, a team of staff and volunteers began meeting women at USC in hopes of finding those women who were excited about involvement on campus, driven towards academic success and searching for sisterhood. This past weekend, those women became sisters of Alpha Gamma Delta, bringing our Purpose to the campus community and building upon the already strong foundation for the future of the fraternity and sorority community both at the University of South Carolina and for all of Alpha Gamma Delta.
On Friday, November 16, the women gathered for Pinning of the Petals and Fireside followed by a dessert reception to celebrate the Installation weekend. Sunday morning, joined by Volunteer Service Team members, local alumnae, International Headquarters staff and four Initiation teams from Mu-Brenau University, Gamma Eta-High Point University, Gamma Phi-Georgia Institute of Technology and Theta Delta-North Georgia College and State University, a total of 14 Initiation ceremonies were performed throughout the day. This thrilling day concluded with the Installation Service and a celebratory banquet. Family, inter-fraternal friends, campus partners, Pearl Sisters, and alumnae from all over came together in Columbia, South Carolina, on Sunday evening to mark this momentous occasion and celebrate the newest additions to Alpha Gamma Delta.
Weekends, experiences and stories like this remind us all just how special our membership in Alpha Gamma Delta really is, and how each member who continues to Live with Purpose makes it possible for the Fraternity to begin colonies on new campuses each semester. Please join us in celebrating and congratulating the newest chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta, Theta Omega Chapter at the University of South Carolina!
