(INDIANAPOLIS) Alpha Gamma Delta is pleased to announce the Fraternity has engaged in an official relationship with the American Diabetes Association®. In support of this collaboration, Alpha Gamma Delta sisters are encouraged to help build diabetes awareness on their campuses and in their communities by performing community service at local Association offices and events. Alpha Gamma Delta will also work to educate its members, chapters and communities about diabetes with online programming and publications, incorporating information provided by the Association.
A unique part of the collaboration is the Association's Stop Diabetes® Playbook, which was created to support Alpha Gamma Delta's fraternity-wide engagement with the Association. This one-stop resource will help chapters, clubs and members connect with their local American Diabetes Association office and help raise diabetes awareness and education within their communities. The Playbook also shares a number of online resources, including information about ways to prevent type 2 diabetes and tips to live a healthy lifestyle that may be used for chapter, club and community programs.
"Since our inception, Alpha Gamma Delta members have been committed to making an impact in their local communities and beyond," said Rie Gerah Hoehner, International President. "For the past several decades, we have supported the cause of diabetes awareness and education and are pleased to renew our focus. Through the collaboration with the American Diabetes Association, as well as additional community service partnerships that are on the horizon, we will continue to strengthen our organization and fulfill our goal to Live with Purpose."
