International Reunion Day 2009
Best Use of Theme Award Winner:
The Troy Area Alumnae Chapter and Gamma Sigma Chapter Troy, Alabama

These sisters planned an alternative IRD celebration that took them out of the banquet room and into the great outdoors for a day of, climbing, canoeing, and ‘zipping’ over a camp lake. A 1-mile hike got all sisters participating in the “Walk to 2010” Challenge. All that activity was rewarded with a healthy brunch and a reminder about making healthy choices in their lives.
Other noteworthy celebrations were:
Calgary Alumnae Chapter and Delta Nu Chapter,
Alberta Canada

Calgary sisters were called to join the IRD celebration with an invitation that encouraged healthy eating and suggested ‘chic gym wear’ as the appropriate attire for IRD. The day’s events included a healthy brunch and a belly dancing class (for having fun while destressing!) Sisters also donated used cell phones for recycling to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
Valley of the Sun Alumnae Chapter,
Phoenix, Arizona
IRD in Arizona was focused on heart health with many sisters drawing attention to the importance of this topic by dressing in red for the day. Attendees learned the importance of knowing their blood pressure and cholesterol results to allow educated discussion with physicians. Each sister received a red dress pin as a reminder of this important health issue.
Canada
The sisters in the Ottawa area celebrated our first IRD as the National Capital Region of Canada Alumnae Club. The event was held at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club on Sunday April 19th. Fittingly the room where we celebrated just happened to be called the Founders room and had red buff and green decor.
During IRD we also celebrated the 50th initiation anniversaries of Elizabeth Cram Alexander (AZ 1948) and Marnie Levitt (T 1955).
Kansas

Greater Kansas City Alumnae Club celebrated IRD with guest speaker April Sikes Anderson-Epislon Lambda, speaking on healthy living ideas to implement into daily life.
Iowa
Katrina Fetterman, a collegian from Rho Chapter-Iowa State University, wrote this poem to go with the theme of IRD this year. The poem was included as part of the centerpieces and rolled into scrolle for each woman at the table to take.
"Recipe for Success"
Today we celebrate the success
Of Alpha Gam, so dear
But to what can we attribute
Great strides from year to year?
We may not be chefs or bakers,
But let it be understood:
The ingredients that we possess
Have shaped our sisterhood.
For most, Recruitment was our first taste
Of Alpha Gam's love and laughter.
From silly skits to Preference Night,
It's no wonder we chose this chapter!
As members, the Purpose is for us
A staple in our lives
To embody its tenets in every way
Is a goal towards which we strive.
The meaning in our sacred symbols
We nourish in our hearts.
Through Initiation, we're peas in a pod
Even when we're far apart.
So, we don't abandon the table we share
On the day of graduation.
For we continue to grow in sisterhood
As we give Alpha Gam our dedication.
Alpha Gamma Delta binds us all our lives
So as sisters, we are blessed.
To celebrate and build a legacy:
Our recipe for success.
