Question: What would you like the chapter you are advising to know about you?
Betsy's Answer: Commuication is extremely important to me. I promise that as a Leadership Advisor I will do my best to communicate with chapter members, officers, chapter advisors and my supervisors at International Headquarters and I would like the chapter members and officers I work with to do their best to communicate with me too. I want that chapter I work with to
know that they can trust me with anything and everything. I want their officers and members to be open and honest with me about everything and know that I will never judge them. I am on their side for any challenges they may face, and I most likely have been in a similar situation myself. Even though I will be in graduate school while working as a Leadership Advisor, I want the chapter I work with to know that they are one of my top priorities and that they can call me at any time and I will always do my very best to help them out. Whenever I find myself in a situation in which I don't know the answer, I promise I will find the answer and get back to them. I want the chapter I work with to know that Alpha Gam always will be an important part of who I am and that my goal is to make their Alpha Gam experience as positive as it was for me.

Question: What is your favorite Alpha Gam memory?
Betsy's Answer: I will always remember singing my chapter's senior song during our last night of recruitment. All the senior
members of the chapter stood in an arc wearing our red dresses and sang to a room filled with our other sisters in the chapter and many potential new members who later became our sisters. I will never forget looking around the arc at people who were so important to me in college and I hope will always be a part of my life, and I'll never forget the sound of our voices singing the song for the last time. I remember hearing that song for the first time when I went through recruitment and thinking about all the amazing memories we had formed since we joined Alpha Gam.

Question: What is your biggest accomplishment thus far?
Betsy's Answer: My greatest personal accomplishment has been attaining balance in my life. I have come to a point where I know who I am, what I stand for and what I want to be in the future, and I feel healthy in many different dimensions. I am academically successful, but I don’t focus on grades as much as learning. I am physically healthy and have made exercise and nutrition two of my main priorities, yet I also listen to my body and can take a day off from exercising if it doesn’t feel right. I am blessed to have a supportive group of friends and understand the importance of being there for someone and knowing that someone is always there for me. Through my leadership experiences and Alpha Gam involvement I have developed emotional intelligence, allowing me to control my emotions and understand others’ emotions intuitively. I have developed my own personal sense of spirituality, combining what my church and family have taught me with how I believe people should be treated in society. One of the things I have come to value most in my life is sustainability. I mean this in terms of environmental sustainability through minimizing my impact on the planet, societal sustainability by appreciating the strengths of others and recognizing the degree to which we rely on each other, as well as self-sustainability through keeping myself healthy. The balance I’ve achieved between important aspects of my life has been more valuable to me than any solitary achievement.

Favorite Quote: "Life is a series of experiences, each one of which makes us bigger, even though it is hard to realize this. For the world was built to develop character, and we must learn that the setbacks and griefs which we endure help us in our marching onward."
